If I could actually go and buy that coupe-render you’ve shared, I’d be at a Mazda dealer with money.

In my youth, I used to think convertibles were kind of pointless— especially here in the north where 3 of our 4 seasons are Almost Winter, Winter, and Still Winter. I’ve since realized that roofless cars are even more useless in the south where it is just too damn hot all the time to drive around without being in an enclosed air conditioned space.

The cooler temps of spring and fall make topless motoring a challenge, but a fun one. With a good heater and a knit hat, top down driving can be enjoyed well into the cool weather. A hardtop makes the car compatible with the rest of the year.

The enjoyment factor of driving with no roof is something not always appreciated until it is experienced.

Well done! You were, and are, clearly addicted.

On day 2 with the car I was going through tail of the dragon and had a moment where I could smell nature and heard birds chirping. It was lovely.

Next couple of weekends I drove around downtown Detroit and Toronto with the top down and the skyline above my head.

Then it got cold and yea now its just a loud fixed roof. I get why someone wouldn’t want it. But I’m still digging it and looking forward to summer. Maybe my opinion will change in a year or two. Who knows?

Enjoy it! I’ve had two (Mustang GT and NC Miata) and they were great, but I’ve found that I prefer a fixed roof as I enjoy tracking my cars.

That’s a good amount of mileage! I see an ND RF on my commute home and it’s quite sexy.

Over 60 miles a day commuting and over 20k miles a year! Which is also why I’m digging this 32mpg average.

Oh wow, so this is your primary DD? What’s the average speed of your commute?

IIRC the car says my average MPH is like 33. Notable because its so close to average MPG. I reverse commute (downtown to the burbs) so the highway is pretty clear and I can speed. Manual life isn’t a pain, its nice.
